In dem Roman verwischen zusehends die Grenzen zwischen der Realität und dem Übernatürlichen. In der fantasievollen Liebsgeschichte geht es um die Tiefe des Menschseins und unsere Verbindung zur Natur. Handlung: Bei einem Spaziergang im Hamburger Stadtpark mit ihrem Labrador-Rüden James begegnet Sophie Oliver. Er ist völlig am Boden zerstört und weint bitterlich. Auf ihre Frage wieso, behauptet er, dass er der Herbst sei. Er ist deshalb so verzweifelt, weil er seine Fähigkeit verloren habe, die Jahreszeit und die damit verbundenen Veränderungen auf der Welt einzuleiten. Es ist bereits Oktober und der Blätterfall bereits viel zu lange überfällig. Sollte es Oliver nicht gelingen, noch etwas zu verändern, drohe die gesamte Natur zerstört zu werden. Sophie entschließt sich dazu, dem Unbekannten zu helfen. Gemeinsam beginnen sie nach einem Weg zu suchen, wie Oliver seine Kraft doch noch wiedererlangen kann. Im Laufe der Zeit verliebt Sophie sich in Oliver und sie finden auf ihrer Suche Unglaubliches über die Jahreszeiten und den Ursprung aller menschlichen Gefühle heraus. Sophie gibt die Hoffnung nicht auf, dass Oliver letztendlich doch noch etwas bewegen und die bedrohte Pflanzenwelt retten kann.
About the Author: Tobias Heuer ist zweiunddreißig Jahre alt und lebt mit seiner Familie in Hamburg. Er liest selbst fast ausschließlich Bücher im Urban-Fantasy-Genre und ist immer fasziniert davon, wenn ein Autor es schafft, etwas Magisches so fein mit der realen Welt zu verflechten, dass es logisch erscheint. Weiterhin schätzt er es persönlich sehr, wenn Romane kurzweilig und von der ersten Seite mitreißend sind, sodass der Leser nicht lange auf den Beginn der zentralen Handlung warten muss. Sein Ziel als Schriftsteller ist es, moderne Märchen für Erwachsene zu schreiben, die kurze Auszeiten vom Alltag sein können. Mit diesem Anspruch an seine Geschichten und sich selbst hat er mit dem Schreiben an Bis wir fallen begonnen. Er wurde von Autoren wie Erin Morgenstern, Eowyn Ivey, Ali Shaw und Audrey Niffenegger inspiriert.
