One year later, thousands of German bombs dropped on Birmingham during the terrifying days of the Blitz. The city in flames, the sky glowing red, is deeply etched into memory.
The raids of November 1940 were described as; 'Hell on earth', by the Swindon Mercury in 1996 ... 'In utter devastation, buildings at the centre of Birmingham were smoking shells of their former status.'

When I was thirteen, better times had arrived and I have many happy memories of teenage years in Birmingham where I trained as a nurse and midwife. After marrying Colin in 1961, we spent a year in the States before returning to live in Bristol. We have a son and two daughters who have provided nine grandchildren and this has meant fun-filled family celebrations over the years. I love traveling, all the creative arts and especially writing.
