Bob Dylan ist der einflussreichste Rockmusiker und Songpoet seiner Generation. In seinem Buch "Bob Dylan & Black America" stellt Autor Thomas Waldherr dar, wie vielfältig die Verflechtungen von Dylans Werk und Wirken mit der afroamerikanischen Community und ihrer Kultur sind. Waldherr schlägt dabei einen Bogen von den frühen Bürgerrechtssongs in den 1960er Jahren, über sein Engagement für schwarze Persönlichkeiten wie dem Boxer "Rubin Hurricane" Carter, bis hin zu Ausflügen in Hip Hop, Soul und Jazz. Er zeigt auf, dass Bob Dylan das durch Rassenschranken gespaltene Amerika in seinem künstlerischen Werk und in seinem Leben vereint.
About the Author: Thomas Waldherr M.A. ist gebürtiger Darmstädter, Jahrgang 1963, und beschäftigt sich auf seinem Blog www.cowboyband.blog ausführlich mit Bob Dylan und Americana. Zusammen mit Richard Limbert gibt er das historisch-kritische Dylan- und Americana Magazin www.keywestmagazin.com heraus. Er ist Redakteur von www.country.de und schreibt regelmäßig für den "Folker". Zur amerikanischen Populärmusik und ihren gesellschaftlichen Hintergründen hält er Vorträge und bietet Seminare bei verschiedenen Bildungseinrichtungen an. In Darmstadt kuratiert er seit 2014 eine Americana-Konzertreihe. Er ist Mitglied der Jury der Liederbestenliste der deutschsprachigen Musik.
