About the Book

The ultimate book for retirement. This book is for all those who are serious about having a life well lived and are keen to achieve their life's objectives. It aims to redefine retirement and show how the baby boomers have had an enormous impact on how we lead the later part our lives. It shows how longevity, medical breakthroughs and healthier living means that we can all lead meaningful and purposeful lives well into old age. The book sets out the importance of planning to ensure that your money doesn't run out before you do.Do you work out SMART goals and write them down?Do you have a Financial Planner to help you work out if you have enough money to last a lifetime and do all the things you want to do?Are your lifestyle, diet and habits in need of an overhaul?Rather than focussing on what you need in terms of pensions, investments etc., it looks at how you should be leading your life to ensure that you have a "life well lived". The author is a practicing Financial Planner who has helped many people over the years redefine their retirement plans. This book concentrates on the positives, on the opportunities that abound to make life more interesting and exciting in your more mature years. Most of all it aims to empower you to be the person you want to be and live the life you want to lead. This is the golden era, not the olden one.
About the Author: Like many Advisers, Marlene's first job was not in financial services. After a dalliance with accountancy, she preferred to work with people than numbers. She qualified and worked as a probation officer for South Glamorgan for 13 years. She is experienced in family group work and counselling. With the Probation Service changing, she was anxious for a change and preferably as her own boss. Financial services seemed to fit her qualifications. Since then she has worked in financial services for over 28 years and established her first Financial Planning practice in 1991, selling it in 2007. Working as a Financial Planner for the new business for 5 years, she left when it was about to be sold, and as many of her clients missed her, she started UNIQ Family Wealth in July 2013, with its focus on families. "It is inevitable, that even though you start working with an individual or a couple, the discussion soon leads to other family members. It is difficult to help people plan their lifestyles in isolation of them". Marlene has always believed in a business that was professional and personal with an emphasis on the relationship. She has helped many people, over the years, redefine their retirement and ensure that they could have a 'Life Well Lived' and get the most out of their later years.
