About the Book

An autobiographical work ideal for adult and teen readers (whether disabled or able bodied), BORN DIFFERENT - SHORTHANDED by King Lear is a testament of life's triumphs despite things out of your control. By sharing some of his most cherished memories, King Lear seeks to inspire others to see how they too should not allow "difficulties" or "handicaps" to stop their efforts to rightfully live out their dreams as joyously and fully as God has ordained for every human being. "Set your dreams in depths and heights -- doing everything in your power to accomplish whatever it is you set forth," King Lear urges readers. Despite being born with a birth defect, King Lear did not allow labels, bullying or depression to stop him from achieving his goals. He was able to serve in the military, get married, obtain a degree, father wonderful children, become a real estate agent, and become an author. Released with assistance from BePublished.Org in July 2017, BORN DIFFERENT - SHORTHANDED by King Lear is available for order worldwide via KingLear.Net and also via Kindle as an e-book for $9.95 or as a softback for $19.95 (plus shipping and taxes) from bricks-and-mortar and online book retailers including Barnes & Noble, Amazon.com and your local bookstore.
About the Author: King Lear is a native of Asbury Park in Monmouth County, New Jersey. There, he resided for more than 22 years prior to relocating to Texas. He currently resides in Killeen, Texas. King Lear was born sometime during the early morning hours on May 9, 1967, at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. He is the last child out of six of the immediate McKinnon tribe to have been conceived. Throughout his adolescent years in New Jersey, King Lear met all educational requirements and successfully graduated Bangs Avenue Elementary (which is now called Thurgood Marshall Elementary), Asbury Park Middle School, and Asbury Park High School (home of the Mighty Blue Bishops). He graduated Asbury Park High in June 1985. King Lear enlisted in the United States Army on October 21, 1990, as a Light-Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic (63B). During his faithful and meritorious 21 plus years on active duty, he obtained an additional Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) as a Transportation Management Coordinator (88N4). He was also classified as a Non-Commissioned Officer and ranked as a Sergeant First Class (E7). Upon successfully meeting all requirements under oath, as service was effectively rendered, King Lear received a Certificate of Retirement from the Armed Forces of the United States of America on December 31, 2011. After his honorable tenure with the United States Army, King Lear decided to pursue higher education and enrolled as a college student at the local community college in Killeen, Texas. Upon doing so, he went on to successfully complete all of the requirements needed to receive an Associate's Degree in General Studies, with a Business Management / Real Estate Specialization. In addition, King Lear obtained a certificate for his successful completion of Real Estate Sales Agent courses. He graduated from Central Texas College May 16, 2015. He obtained his real estate license through the State of Texas in August 2016. In June 2017, after writing on his manuscript for a year and a half, King Lear manifested his dream of authorship by publishing his literary debut, BORN DIFFERENT - SHORTHANDED, the following month. However, of all of his achievements, King Lear is most proud of creating two great lives. He has two wonderful children, a beautiful daughter and a handsome son. Both are fun-loving scholars and divine souls with whom their father greatly enjoys spending quality time and creating lifelong memories. www.KingLear.net
