Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2004 im Fachbereich Geschichte - Allgemeines, Note: 2,3, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (Historisches Seminar - Lehrstuhl für Neueste Geschichte), Veranstaltung: Europa um 1900, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Diese Arbeit befaßt sich mit dem Problem des Boulangismus: Es gilt herauszufinden, wie die Boulangisten - die Mitglieder dieser Bewegung - die Moderne wahrnahmen, sie beschrieben und worin ihre Kritik der Moderne lag; dabei sollen die Motive und Ziele des Boulangismus herausgefunden werden und untersucht, inwiefern diese Bewegung einer gesamteuropäischen Tendenz, bzw. europäischen Parallelen, entsprach oder ob sie lediglich ein spezifisch französisches Phänomen war. Über den Boulangismus, seine politische Wirkung und Einschätzung sowie über dessen Leitfigur, den General Boulanger, ist viel geschrieben und geforscht worden; die wichtigsten Arbeiten sind dabei folgende: Zum Boulangismus allgemein liegen die etwas älteren Werke von Adrien Dansette und Frederick Seager sowie die etwas neueren von Michel Winock, Jean Garrigues und Frédéric Frégneaux vor; hierbei sind die Arbeiten von Dansette - trotz ihres Alters - und Garrigues besonders erkenntnisreich und vielrezipiert. Von den Biographien über den General Boulanger ist wiederum besonders diejenige von Jean Garrigues zu empfehlen - sie gilt als die beste, weil sie sehr informativ und gut geschrieben ist. Ferner sind noch die Biographien von Fresnette Pisani-Ferry und von James Harding erwähnenswert. Zwei Arbeiten befassen sich mit dem Verhältnis zwischen Boulanger bzw. dem Boulangismus und den Monarchisten bzw. den radikalen Rechten: diejenige von Philippe Levillain ist dabei mehr biographisch aufgebaut und fokussiert das Verhältnis zu den Monarchisten, während die von William Irvine eher den Boulangismus an sich und die Entstehung der radikalen Rechten in den Blick nimmt. Das Verhältnis zwischen Boulangismus und Sozialismus hat Michel Winock in einem Aufsatz beschrieben.
