Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2016 im Fachbereich Musikwissenschaft, Note: 1,0, Bayerische Julius-Maximilians-Universität Würzburg, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Schöpfung von Vokalwerken begleitete Johannes Brahms (1833-1897) durch seine gesamte Schaffenszeit: Über einen Zeitraum von 45 Jahren schrieb er weit über 300 Vokalwerke, darunter 204 Sololieder, 20 Duette und 60 Quartette. Als einziger Komponist im späten 19. Jahrhundert sah Brahms im mehrstimmigen Vokalsatz keine untergeordnete Aufgabe, sondern durchaus einen Prüfstein kompositorischen Könnens. Betrachtet man seine Werke, so ist es ein Genre, in dem man ihm spätestens seit Arnold Schönberg (1874-1951) große Meisterschaft zugesteht. In Brahms letzter, zwölfjähriger Schaffensphase, in der er sich in geistiger Hinsicht von der Welt und damit auch vom Schaffen großer Kompositionen weitgehend abgewandt hatte, entstanden die "Zigeunerlieder". Die Werke dieser Zeit zeugen eher von einer melancholischen Stimmung,4 umso mehr müssen daher die temperamentvollen, mitten im Leben stehenden Zigeunerlieder in jener Phase herausgestochen sein. Brahms wählte diesen Titel, obwohl als Vorlage eine Sammlung "Ungarischer Liebeslieder" gedient hatte. Zwar übte das freie Leben der Zigeuner und "ihre" Musik auf die von der Romantik geprägte westeuropäische Gesellschaft des 19. Jahrhundert eine gewisse Faszination aus, doch bedurfte Brahms, der sich auf dem Höhepunkt seines Ruhmes befand, sicherlich keiner Namensgebung, welche diese Mode bediente. Daher soll nun festgestellt werden, ob es sich bei dem Liederzyklus tatsächlich um "Zigeunermusik", um ungarische Musik oder um Kunstlieder handelt oder inwieweit diese verschiedenen Stile in die Komposition einfließen. Im Folgenden werden dazu die Entstehungsgeschichte der Lieder, Brahms` Verbindung zu Ungarn und die kulturgeschichtlichen Gegebenheiten und musikalischen Entwicklungen des Landes erläutert. Außerdem soll die Vorlage der "Ungarischen Liebeslieder" mit Brahms´ Liederzy
