About the Author: Manuel J. (Bud) Sanders is a Professor of Mathematics. He was born in Denver, Colorado and grew up in North English, Iowa. After earning Baccalaureate and Masters degrees in Mathematics from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, he received a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee for his work on contractible manifold theory, a part of geometric topology. He has taught at various public and private colleges and universities in the United States. Besides publishing research in topology and analysis, Dr. Sanders has strong interests in mathematics education and pedagogy. The key tenet of his teaching philosophy is that every student open to learning and willing to question everything can succeed at mathematics. Dr. Sanders currently resides in Savannah, Georgia.
