About the Book

Synopsis Bublonya Civil Society Freely available bubble material supplies food, clothing and shelter to all inhabitants of Bublonya. This enables them to pursue other interests mainly science, literature and poetry. They have no government, or military or weapons. All activity is based upon volunteerism and cooperation. Leadership is based upon meritocracy and is voluntary. American astronauts on an exploratory mission to the moon discover a transmitter placed there by alien people from a distant planet 95 light years away. The astronauts use the transmitter to make contact with the people from this distant plant. They are invited to visit the planet. The environment on the distant planet is identical to that of Earth. They make friends with the people who are peaceful, warm and gentle. The astronauts learn that the driver of civil society on this planet is a bubble material that flows freely and in quantity in nearby fields. This bubble material, in various controlled configurations provides food, clothing and shelter for all, leaving the people free to pursue their personal interests. They concentrate on science and have achieved remarkable advances in many scientific fields. They are a very collegial people. Their whole social structure is based upon cooperation and volunteerism. They have no government, or military or weaponry. Every person at birth receives a Comunion, an electronic device, as an insert into the earlobe. It allows for instant communication with every one else on the planet, and instant access to the database of all information. They only have to think about a person or subject and are instantly satisfied. The astronauts named this distant planet Bublonya after the bubble material that supported the social structure. Over the course of time there were many visits of people from one planet to the other planet. These were troubleshooting visits to help solve problems. They were adventuresome, sometimes risky and demanding. They helped to create bonds between people on the two planets. In one such visit the Bublonyans bring with them a Sunlight Converter that instantly provides electricity to Washington, D.C. when the city suffers from a power outage. On a visit to Bublonya the astronauts solve a problem that has cut off the flow of bubble material endangering their whole society. The visits to Earth were always done under conditions of great secrecy. It had been decided at the highest level that Earth people were not prepared for knowledge of alien people from another planet, and certainly not any meeting with them. This secrecy was scrupulously maintained. The Bublonyans came to learn that people on the Earth were divided into many groups such as: race, color, age, religion (whatever that it), location, economic status and more. They are very competitive, chaotic, and quarrelsome, inclined to fighting, war and even death. There was no common good around which everyone on Earth could agree. They did not believe that they, the Bublonyans, could engage with such a people in a meaningful way. They were frankly afraid to contact Earth people. The Bublonyans eventually landed a research mission on Earth to study Earth social structure and to determine if, and how, contact would ever be possible.
