Das Buch als Medium hat nicht nur wesentlich zu der Art und Weise beigetragen, wie wir heute denken und fühlen. Ohne Erfindungen wie den Buchdruck wäre auch die technologische Entwicklung undenkbar gewesen, die paradoxerweise zum gänzlichen Verschwinden des Buches führen könnte: Die moderne Informationstechnologie und der digitale Code. Vertreter einer klassisch orientierten Buchkultur gehen auf die Barrikaden. Doch woher stammt dieses Konfliktverhältnis? Und was soll das überhaupt sein, eine "Buchkultur"? Worin unterscheiden sich Buch und digitaler Text und was bedeutet das für eine Gesellschaft, die sich auf dem Buch gründet, in der der digitale Text jedoch immer mehr an Relevanz gewinnt? Diese Studie analysiert die gegenwärtige Lage des Papierbuches, des elektronischen Buches sowie seiner Ausgabegeräte und stellt die Frage nach dem Lesen innerhalb dieser Medien. Zudem liefert sie einen Einblick in die Debatte um das Thema "Buch und Lesen" angesichts des digitalen Wandels unter besonderer Berücksichtigung des Buchmarktes und seiner Teilnehmer. Abschließend beantwortet die Studie die Frage, ob es eine Deutungshoheit des Digitialen gibt und wie digitaler Text kulturell in das bestehende System integriert werden kann.
About the Author: Lukas Weidenbach (M.A.), geboren 1983, absolvierte eine Ausbildung zum Buchhändler und studierte danach Medien- und Kulturwissenschaften an der Heinrich-Heine-Universität Düsseldorf studiert. Den persönlichen Schwerpunkt innerhalb dieses interdisziplinär angelegten Studiengangs bildete das Feld der Diskursanalyse. Seit dem Studium ist er als Lektor, freier Autor und Übersetzer tätig.
