About the Book

Picture an African-American who has always dreamed of living on a ranch in the west. He has degrees from The Virginia School of Mines and an MBA from Harvard. He works at one of the biggest firms in Atlanta making a six figure salary, AND HATES IT. One day he is staring out the window daydreaming about a horse ranch in Montana when he stops, takes a deep breath and says, "why not", opens his lap-top, types up his resignation and starts looking for land in Montana. The setting for the story is northwest Montana where wild horses are being rounded up for herd reduction by the federal government. Black Fury has been captured with his herd, but with his great strength and abilities far beyond the average horse, jumps the especially built six foot corral fence and again races to the mountains and freedom. Rancher Emery Perry has a dream of developing a great strain of superior horse in strength and beauty for the Eastern carriage and riding stables trade. Emery pursues the great stallion into his area of refuge. It's absolutely necessary to capture Black Fury. If he is to save his ranch from an unscrupulous banker and politician, he must be able to collect the reward offered on Black Fury, and on the Killer Grizzly, "The Widowmaker", that has terrorized the ranchers, killing two men, as well as multiple raids on sheep, cattle, and even horses. Killing indiscriminately. Local politician, and banker, Luke Austin, is determined to ruin Emery Perry and take his ranch...and is willing, not only to kill a horse, but is willing to pay to have Emery murdered. With Austin's men trying to kill him and being stalked by a giant killer grizzly, it's all Emery Perry can do to survive long enough to spoil Austin's plans, and to collect the Association's rewards for Black Fury and "The Widowmaker", the giant killer grizzly. Emery has to have the bounties to save his ranch from the corrupt Austin. Set in the beautiful Rocky Mountains of Montana, the scenery and wildlife are awe-inspiring. Emery has to save his ranch for his future and the future of his girl friend, the lovely crusader for animal rights, Renessa Ruffin.
