About The Author: Dr S S Bhavikatti served at the National Institute of Technology Karnataka (NITK) Surathkal from 1963 to 2001, where he retired as Dean (Administration) and Professor of Civil Engineering. During 2001-05, he served as a professor of civil engineering and vice-principal at SDM College of Engineering and Technology, Dharwad. Later, he was principal at RYMEC, Bellary, till 2007. He has been Emeritus Professor at BVB College of Engineering and Technology, Hubli, from March 2008. Dr Bhavikatti has completed his ME (Structural Engineering) Degree from IIT Roorkee and holds a PhD from IIT Delhi. He has guided 69 students through their dissertations in M.Tech and five students through their doctorate degrees. He has been a member of many national and international committees.
