About the Book

Burning Benjamin is the first book of The Counterfeiter Series. Michael Van Davis II wrote the fiction novel to account his days as a counterfeiter in today's age, where most of the tracking techniques used by Secret Service are digital. The story is told from the voice of a man simply known as Captain, a conspiracy theorist living off-the-grid. Captain wishes to remove his girlfriend, Payton, from a life of dancing in strip clubs, choosing to make his own cash instead. What unveils is a unique story where Captain has a difficult time reigning in the women who spend the counterfeit money by shopping for everything they've ever desired. When Captain adds a mob member for a partner, he learns it's impossible to make good friends in the subculture of carding, counterfeiting, and selling fake merchandise. The novel is a wonderful tale of the world we all live in today, but rarely have the chance to see.
About the Author: Michael Van Davis studied the world of counterfeiting for the better part of a decade before getting a little too close to the action. After being awarded a federally funded sabbatical in 2011, he discovered the error of his ways, and is now a full-time author and consultant. Michael has used his unique perspective, and interview opportunities, to weave his experiences into a series of novels that bring to light the darker side of the very real world of grifters, con men, and professional criminals. Drawing upon his personal experiences, he pokes fun at the tactics of the Secret Service and Cyber Crime Task Force in contrast to the antics of the criminals they pursue. Each adventure through the criminal sub-culture takes the reader into a world that's fun to visit, yet leaves you hoping it never comes to visit you. At a time when Identity Theft dominates the news, these tales from the other side give the reader a porthole view of the other side, while safely behind the glass.
