Sie bilden in Deutschland die zweithäufigste Diagnosegruppe mit 40 Millionen Arbeitsunfähigkeitstagen pro Jahr. Gleichzeitig sind sie der häufigste Grund für Frühverrentungen, rund 75.000 Menschen scheiden jährlich aufgrund psychischer Leiden frühzeitig aus dem Erwerbsleben aus. Die Abwesenheitsdauer ist ebenfalls bemerkenswert hoch, im Durchschnitt liegt sie bei 35 Tagen pro Jahr (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie, 2014). Hieraus entsteht ein immenser Schaden für die betroffenen Unternehmen und die Sozialsysteme sowie gravierende Auswirkungen auf die Lebensqualität der Erkrankten. In dieser Hausarbeit soll zunächst in Kapitel 2 erläutert werden, was unter Burnout zu verstehen ist und welche Stressfaktoren in der Arbeitswelt von Bedeutung sind. Daran anknüpfend wird in Kapitel 3 dargestellt zu welchen Erkenntnissen die Verhaltensforschung in diesem Zusammenhang kommt und aufgezeigt, welchen Einfluss das eigene Denken und die subjektive Bewertung von Ereignissen auf das Stressempfinden haben. Kapitel 4 gibt einen Überblick über die protektiven Faktoren der Resilienz. Da nicht nur das Individuum seine Aufgaben im Gesunderhaltungsprozess hat, sondern auch das Unternehmen, und die Unternehmenskultur einen bedeutenden Einfluss auf die Arbeitsumgebung und das Entstehen einer Belastungssituation hat, soll in Kapitel 5 auch diese Komponente und Ihre Rolle im Gesundheitsmanagement in die Betrachtung einbezogen werden.
