About the Book

If you are enthusiastic, levelheaded, and not afraid of hard work, this book has been written for you. It is dedicated to the small businessperson, who is full of ambition, but short on cash and the knowledge associated with acquisitions, as well as the bright entrepreneur who wants to own a successful business. Acclaimed financial wizard and business strategist, Richard C. Shumaker, has poured a lifetime of experience, including both successes and failures, into Buy That Business, uncovering a straight and narrow path that leads to reduced risk and financial reward. However, he details more than just a plan, but rather a philosophy to embolden the willing, without losing sight of what's really important - happiness, fulfillment, and 'living' each day with purpose and meaning. Shumaker writes with a unique style, drawing from the past, while understanding and embracing the here and now. Learn a series of valuable lessons that will forge a foundation of grounded principles, which will help anyone seek out and acquire a company. Today's your day - purchase a copy of this rare find and learn to pick the ripest of fruit from the tree of business opportunity and grow your dream.
About the Author: In the mid-sixties, Richard graduated from West Virginia University with a Liberal Arts degree. After working for several large corporations, he decided to try self-employment; first, in real estate brokerage, then as a general contractor. Few can cite a greater number of real estate listings in 90 days: 53. And, not many can top his new home sales percentage over a 90-day period: 18 contracts from 25 contacts, or a 72% success ratio. But, when interest rates rose from 9% to 21% in the late 70's - curtailing construction starts - Richard turned aside from the building industry and dived into a succession of stimulating business ventures. For example, in the early eighties, he packaged a limited partnership that purchased a prestigious nightclub ... the last of its kind between Las Vegas and Atlantic City. With over 150,000 square feet, the facility housed a 200 room motel, comedy club, numerous bars, restaurants and banquet halls, and a main dining room that served about 1,000 people. The comedy club hosted many stars such as Jay Leno, Jerry Seinfeld and Dennis Miller. Later, another partnership was formed to acquire a 50 year old, well-known manufacturer of quality drapery products. Out of this operation came a window installation endeavor, commercial cabinet manufacturer and others. One operation made the top 100 list of the fastest growing US companies. Shumaker is the originator of the Natural Business Philosophy; Syndicated Profit Reversal; the renowned AB Scenario; the Virtual Corporation; Controlled Daily Balance; and, the Gold Standard Security Enhancement Strategy. He founded WITT (Wilmerding Internet Think Tank), a group made up primarily of retired engineers from various Westinghouse companies whose function it is to perpetuate George Westinghouse's creative thinking for the benefit of the community. In cooperation with the world famous Marx Trains Company, he designed and marketed a limited collector's edition of an 1890 tinplate railroad boxcar inscribed 'Westinghouse Inter-Works Railway Co.' The railway was owned in the early 1900's by George Westinghouse. Over the years, he has written how-to construction manuals, in-depth documentation designed to evaluate investment properties, financial enhancement guidelines, private placement proposals, newspaper articles and ... developed many time saving, strength-improvement devices for new construction. Richard has also taught classes on real estate, financial matters and the Internet.
