Studienarbeit aus dem Jahr 2022 im Fachbereich Geschichte Europas - Mittelalter, Frühe Neuzeit, Note: 1,0, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Die Arbeit stellt eine Untersuchung zu den Bürgerrechten in der mittelalterlichen deutschen Stadt dar. Beispielhaft wird dabei die Stadt Münster herangezogen. Neben der beruflichen Tätigkeit unterschied sich das Leben eines Städters vor allem in rechtlichen Fragen von dem eines auf dem Land lebenden Bauern. Freies Erbrecht, Befreiung von Zoll sowie von Abgaben und eine eigene Gerichtsbarkeit waren einige der Privilegien, die sich Menschen durch ihre Zugehörigkeit zur Gemeinschaft der Bürger (communitas civiim) erhofften. Außerdem war die Möglichkeit zur politischen Mitbestimmung und somit die aktive Gestaltung der Rechtsgrundlagen in einer Stadt von zentraler Bedeutung. Wer aber tatsächlich direkt von diesen Privilegien profitieren konnte, definierte das Bürgerrecht. Denn es war nicht wie heute, dass die Zugehörigkeit als Bürger zu einer Stadt durch einen einfachen behördlichen Gang im Sinne einer An- bzw. Ummeldung getan wäre. Vielmehr mussten zahlreiche Voraussetzungen erfüllt werden, um die Vollbürgerschaft zu erlangen, welche zudem einerseits von Stadt zu Stadt und andererseits von Zeit zu Zeit verschieden waren. Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, dieses Bürgerrecht durch diese Forschungsfragen einmal genauer zu definieren: Wer konnte das Bürgerrecht erlangen und welche Voraussetzungen musste er dabei erfüllen? Welche Rechte und Privilegien kamen einem Stadtbewohner bei der Erlangung des (vollen) Bürgerrechts zuteil und welche Pflichten erlegte er sich auf? Was führte gegebenenfalls zu einem Verlust des Bürgerrechtes? Der untersuchte Zeitraum erstreckt sich dabei von dem Ende des Hochmittelalters bis zum fortgeschrittenen Spätmittelalter, in dem die kommunale Bewegung bereits einige Ergebnisse erzielte und eventuell reglementierende Bischöfe und Stadtherren ihre vorherrschaftliche Stellung i
