Albert Camus war schon zu Lebzeiten als erfolgreicher Schriftsteller, Philosoph und Frauenheld eine Legende. Seine philosophische Entdeckung ist bis heute eine Provokation. Denn wie alle großen Philosophen stellte Camus die Frage nach dem Sinn des Lebens. Doch seine Antwort fallt vollig aus dem Rahmen. Naturlich wird die Sinnfrage seit jeher unterschiedlich beantwortet. Im Grunde gibt jeder Philosoph eine eigene Antwort auf die Sinnfrage. Nicht so Camus. Er hat keine. Schlimmer noch, er gibt eine Antwort, aber diese ist außerst ernuchternd. Auf die Frage „Was ist der Sinn des Lebens?“ entgegnet er schlicht und einfach: Es gibt keinen. Das Leben ist absurd. Wir planen zwar immer voraus und treffen Entscheidungen, letztlich aber hangt unser ganzes Leben dann doch von einer Reihe von Zufallen ab, die wir nicht beeinflussen konnen. Auch gibt es kein wirkliches Ziel. Unsere Aufgabe ist es aber, stolz und unverzagt weiterzuleben. Camus vergleicht das Leben des Menschen mit dem Mythos von Sisyphos. Dieser versucht unermudlich, eine Kugel den Berg hinaufzuschieben, obwohl sie ihm immer wieder herunterrollt. Doch gerade in diesem scheinbar sinnlosen und absurden Tun liegt die Chance auf ein erfulltes Leben. Camus verrat uns, wie wir mit der Absurditat leben konnen. Wir mussen uns, so Camus, Sisyphos als einen glucklichen Menschen vorstellen. Das Buch „Camus in 60 Minuten“ erklart anhand ausgewahlter Zitate und Beispiele die Theorie des Absurden, wie sie uns Camus selbst in seinen philosophischen Hauptwerken „Der Mythos des Sisyphos“ und „Der Mensch in der Revolte“ prasentiert. In dem Kapitel „Was nutzt uns Camus‘ Entdeckung heute?“ wird der von ihm empfohlene „absurde Lebensstil“ beschrieben. Camus schillernde Beispiele von absurden Lebensentwurfen und seine Vorschlage, wie man dem Absurden am besten begegnet und ein Leben ohne Gott und ideologische Orientierung fuhrt, sind gerade in modernen Gesellschaften von kraftvoller Aktualitat.
