In Malaysia, one of the prime disintegrations of societies' moral values and social structure is greatly attributed to the adopted patriarchal heritage and practices from the forefathers in the behavior of seared conscience male infidelity. Control against women have its long-established position in the histories and ethnographic of the region. Pervasiveness of male dominance perpetrated against women in the patriarchal culture correlate with their adopted practice of male's sexual entitlement outside the institution of marriage in the traditional cultural practice of their forefathers.

9 August 2007, was the day that changed the course of lives for seven families living in a corner of South China Sea. Human race progress is slow in this part of region, just north of equator in a country called Malaysia. A woman living on the western part of Borneo tells her story about her decades long struggle against men in her life living in their closely knitted patriarchal kinship family.

At Catherine's grave, she thanked her for her role. Catherine's role gave her leeway to breathe, and an avenue for a new beginning in life.

Her story is a story of triumph against all odds, and also a moving tale of unconditional love in a family for a son convicted of his personality. Their profound flaws gave her the fiery determination to carve out a meaningful life for herself and her two children on her own terms.
