About the Book

How do we analyse and offer assistance to our children to maps their personality type to the choice of active career they can lead, stress free. Inside the book is an access to an interesting 30 min online scenario exercise (designed for children aged 15+) that offers a personalized report.

Can you see a point of view in the following statements?

Statement 1: Individuals who are uncomfortable with the sight of blood should consider carefully before pursuing a career in healthcare. If they find themselves in such roles, it might be best for them to focus on non-patient-facing positions.

Statement 2: If someone strongly dislikes impromptu day schedules, they should think twice before pursuing a career in the airline industry, especially in roles like pilot or air hostess.

Statement 3: For someone that generally is indecisive should avoid doing tasks or jobs that demand spot decision like emergency response handling, a do or die situation.

Indecision is not an inherently unacceptable quality; in fact, it can be highly relevant in specific contexts. What becomes problematic is assigning tasks cantered around decision-making to such individuals. It's not that they lack the skills, competencies, or knowledge to make decisions; rather, the need to make decisions is stressful.

Have you ever heard someone voice sentiments like, 'I find myself in the wrong profession and it's causing me stress, ' or 'My career feels stagnant because I'm not passionate about what I do'? Perhaps you've encountered concerned parents asking, 'I'm worried about making the right career choice for my child.' These reflections are profoundly significant. In our analysis, we transcend conventional notions of employment, entrepreneurship, business, or dedicated engagement-what is commonly referred to as one's 'career.' Instead, we delve into the heart of 'what you do day in and day out'-what we term as the 'work', or the tasks undertaken continuously to fulfil one's career. While a stressful life can arise from a combination of these factors, as you'll discover in this book, the root of fundamental stress often lies in the nature of the work we engage in, further influenced by other factors.

The Work Quotient test discerns your inherent nature through 24 distinct work types, grouped into 12 dimensions that represent two sets of work styles. For instance, a work set may embody qualities like being relaxed yet dynamic, ambitious yet contented, or risk-taking yet safety-conscious, as well as planning-oriented versus action-oriented, and similar pairings. Our inherent nature naturally aligns with these work sets to varying degrees. This alignment broadly signifies a range of tasks or work that we can undertake without succumbing to stress.

We highly advocate for both the book and the Work Quotient test for Two distinct sets of stakeholders.

  • Firstly, for young students aged 15 and above, who are embarking on the crucial journey of evaluating various career options, taking the right initial step can be immensely rewarding.
  • Secondly, young professionals in the early stages of their careers, who may be exploring different paths before solidifying their trajectory, will find the test to be an invaluable tool. It offers a reinforcing input at the point of decision-making.
  • Optionally, individuals seeking a mid-career shift can greatly benefit from the insights provided. And those feeling stressed or desperate to discover a more suitable career path, the test can serve as a beacon of guidance.
