About the Book

In a world where most people never realize the career of their dreams, Career Happiness and Success (CHS) provides you with the knowledge and insight on what it takes to find a job that you love and to become a leader in your field. Whether you are in high school or already in an unsatisfactory career, for the first time, there is a clear step-by step process to help you find the best career that you can be passionate about and very good at.

A key reason for writing Career Happiness and Success is to help college students and graduates from fitting into the following alarming statistics:
-Over 50% of people aren't happy in their current career.
-75% change their major at least once.
-50% require an added 1 or 2 years to graduate.
-70% do not find employment for 6 months.
-60% are not hired in their major area.
-50% have careers do not require a college degree.

All of these statistics indicate that well over 50% of college graduates are wasting a substantial part of their $100K+ investment.

Inside the book:
You will find well-established aptitude and personality tests, your personal preferences for career characteristics and very detailed career attributes and statistics. When combined, these sources allow you to find that best career. The book also provides you with: (1) the understanding of your natural strengths and the skills required for success; and (2) the knowledge to pick your best college, internships, mentors and employment to maximize your earning potential.

After reading Career Happiness and Success, you will have the expertise and ability to obtain both high levels of happiness and success in your ideal career.
About the Author: Dr. Ellison's gained his Bachelor's degree by attending Carnegie-Mellon's 9-year Engineering night-school program. He advanced from draftsman to cost-estimator to structural designer. During this period he learned the large benefit of working for modest size, rapidly growing, high-end consulting firm grow; in comparison with large international firms or a stagnant, small specialty contractor.

He was offered a fellowship for his Masters and Ph.D. degrees as a full-time student at CMU. During his 3-year graduate program, Dr. Ellison, did continuous part-time work in the geotechnical and civil engineering. During the total 12 years of school and work, he had several key mentors who showed the impact one could have by pursuing a career that they were both very good at and passionate about.

After graduation, he joined the small, but growing, D'Appolonia Consulting Engineering firm. In a few years, he created the position of Executive VP of Corporate Development. In this role, he developed nationally recognized environmental, waste management and mining practices and opened and major regional offices throughout the nation.

In 1984, Dr. Ellison founded Environmental Solutions, Inc (ESI), a leading West Coast environmental consulting company. In 1994, he sold ESI to a small public engineering company (TRC). Three years later, the TRC Board asked him to be the CEO of TRC. During his 7-years as CEO, TRC grew from about $80 million to $400 million annually. The growth included the purchase of 15 well established engineering and consulting firms varying in size from $5 to $30-million in revenue. The TRC stock price grew more than 10-fold during this period.

Dr. Ellison has been the author and editor of several widely-used Engineering and Design Manuals. He also has been the author of hundreds of Environmental Impact Reports for major and often controversial projects. Those reports were always vigorously reviewed and critiqued by the public and regulatory agencies.

Throughout his career, he hired and mentored hundreds of Master's and Ph.D. level engineering, science and business professionals, most of whom became recognized leaders by both their peers and clients. Nine of those professionals went on to build their own successful companies with annual revenues of $10 to $270 million. Dr. Ellison remains committed to helping young people reach their highest potential by finding a career that produces both happiness and success.
