About the Book

A good little book to keep around for browsing and absorbing, this collection of writings imparts the essence of the MindfulCaregiving approach for gaining emotional and life balance. Complete with 6+ pages of caregiver resources, as well as the profoundly useful "housecleaning" exercise, and coaching on how to get help, excerpted from "The Caregiver's Compass". The book covers a range of topics, including "Surviving Family Gatherings", "Stuck in Limiting Beliefs", "Learned Helplessness", "Sibling Damage Control" and others. Written by the author of "The Caregiver's Compass" handbook, and "Exploring Hell and Other Warm Places", a mother/daughter caregiving memoir.
About the Author: Holly has been a life coach since 1990, was a caregiver for ten years, and since 2007 has been a caregiver's coach. Throughout her caregiving she applied to herself the life coaching principles she had been teaching others, thereby inventing MindfulCaregiving, an emotional survival toolkit for caregivers. She shares these tools in her book, "The Caregiver's Compass", a handbook for emotional balance. Her memoir, "Exploring Hell and Other Warm Places", lays out her inspiring (though at times hair-raising) path of learning, her mother/daughter caregiving story. Coming full circle back to life coaching, Holly is now broadening her work to include coaching in the opportunities available during any major life crisis or transition. As a caregiver's coach Holly's clients embrace caregiving as an opportunity for personal growth, breeding optimal balance and wellness both in themselves and in those for whom they care. Her work as a long-term care Ombudsman empowers Elders to speak for the quality of life to which they have a right. She has been instrumental in the development of the Eldercare Whole Health Alliance for The Lotus Healing Arts Foundation, bringing alternative healing to the residents of Newburyport, MA Elder communities. And as an Eden Alternative Associate and member of the New Hampshire Coalition for Culture Change, she is promoting person-directed care in long-term care homes. Having initially trained with Landmark Education in the latter half of the 1980's, Holly is now coming full circle back to life coaching with a focus on major life transition.
