About the Author: Aus einer Arztfamilie des fränkischen Uradels stammend, gebürtig aus Wuppertal, kam die Autorin schon früh mit Prominenz aus Kultur und Kunst in Berührung. Zu ihren engen Freunden gehörten Ernst Jünger, Stefan Andres, C.W. Ceram und manche andere bedeutende Persönlichkeit. Rundfunkkorrespondentin in Madrid, Heirat mit einem deutsch-schweizerischen Hoteldirektor aus Sizilien - ein Leben in Grand Hotels von Italien, in Afrika, im Mittleren Osten, dazu viele Reisen. Flucht aus Beirut im Bürgerkrieg. Nach dem Tod ihres Mannes Aufenthalte in Südamerika, New York, Türkei, Mitarbeit an Zeitungen in der Türkei, doch gelegentlich zu Mittelost-Themen auch bei Radio Luxemburg und ARD. Mit ihrem Buch "Libanon - warum es geschah. Das Rezept eines Bürgerkrieges" (2005) begann die Autorin mit der Veröffentlichung ihrer Memoiren zu außergewöhnlichen Erfahrungen mitunter brisanter Thematik aus den langen Mittelost-Jahren. Auch 2010 setzte sie die Reihe mit ihrem Hauptwerk WARTEN AUF SCHEICH ABDUL-AZIZ (3 Bände), an dem sie zehn Jahre schrieb, fort. Nach Luxemburg und Berlin lebt Sigrid von Broich nun in der Kaiserstadt Aachen, der Stadt ihrer Vorfahren.
