About the Book

El niño es el ser más valioso que pueda existir en el seno familiar y en la misma sociedad. Sin embargo, a nadie parece importarle el sufrimiento de los niños que tienen como único hogar las calles. Todos permanecemos ajenos a este drama cotidiano. Tal parece que a estos niños sí les es posible vivir desprovistos del amor de unos padres, del calor de un hogar de los elementos primordiales para desarrollarse con una apropiada salud emocional. Resulta difícil recriminar a la conducta de algunos adultos sin antes haber analizado en qué condiciones sucedió su niñez. Tal vez allí está la respuesta a tantos actos delictivos, a tanta violencia, a tanto odio a tanto desamor.
El problema es grave, existe y seguro debe tener solución, pero somos nosotros el gobierno y la sociedad quienes tenemos que hallarla.
Nuestra historia sucede en las playas de Rosarito, un municipio turístico ubicado en la costa de la península de Baja California Norte en México.
El padre Ángel consiguió una casa deshabitada a orillas de la playa, y con la ayuda de Sor Sorela y Sor Silencio se han dado a la tarea de quitarle a la calle a un grupo de niños y jóvenes que andan deambulando expuestos a peligros de delincuencia, prostitución y drogas. Sobre todo, en un lugar tan peligroso como las playas de Rosarito y sus turistas. La labor es titánica, y el mantener el hogar mucho más. La labor de los religiosos es casi imposible de sostener porque el padre Ángel solo cuenta con la autorización verbal del dueño de la casa. El problema es que el señor Bowen, norteamericano que radica en San Ysidro Californio, muere repentinamente y no deja nada por escrito sobre su permiso al sacerdote para usar su propiedad en Rosarito. El conflicto se inicia cuando Sara Bowen, hija y heredera única de todos los bienes de su difunto padre, desconoce la autorización verbal que su padre hiciera al párroco de la iglesia donde ellos asistían en California. Así que emite una orden de desalojo para que los niños y jóvenes que habitan su casa regresen a la calle; y ella pueda ser capaz de vender la casa. La propiedad es puesta a la venta por la cantidad de cuatro millones de pesos mexicanos (Aproximados doscientos mil dólares americanos). Los niños y los muchachos harán hasta lo imposible para evitar el desalojo.
