About the Book

The Romance betwen a young British soldier, a Palestinian Arab girl and her family. The story begins in 1953 Jerusalem at 'The Casa Nova Hotel'; and comes to a full resolution in a Nassau, Bahamas Hotel with the same name: 'Casa Nova'. The Novel reviews the beliefs, prejudices, virtues and mores of clashing cultures during a period of Middle East and World crisis. The characters interact to their personal trials and national problems as they move through various countries, and try to resolve the nature of their 'love'.
About the Author: Gerald Mingay Oldham: Born British (Crewe); British education (Stafford - King Edward VI School & Birmingham University); recruited to educate the then Crown Colony of the Bahamas, which, thereafter, proceeded to educate him. Married a born- Bahamian lady (Van), who continued his education. Collaborated with his wife in the production of three sons and various publications, written for their extended family, in and out of schools. Became officially Bahamian when the country became independent. Writes on a variety of subjects, both fiction and non-fiction. Loves poetry: Its rhythms and rhymes are the heart-beats of life; its meanings are condensed emotion 'remembered in tranquillity' (Wordsworth). Hates poetic affectations: Excuse for bad spelling and bad grammar; convoluted forms and abstruse thinking.
