About the Book

***The first in the new Auction House Mystery Series*** When Jasper Biggs, the former Candace Jasper Biggs Rowe, leaves behind her old name and her cheating husband, she sets out to build a new life for herself back in her Wisconsin hometown. She turns to her twin sister Cookie, a psychic medium, and her stepfather Jimmy Biggs, an angry and easily aggravated auctioneer, to help her start over. Soon she finds herself coping not only with the mysterious neighbors in the apartment downstairs, but also with the rigors of training to be an auctioneer under the vulture eyes of Jimmy who owns Biggs Auction House. Jasper has not long to marvel how her cranky stepdad made it Biggs in the cutthroat auction world before she's taken to the hoarder's house where Jimmy has tumbled to his death. Jasper keeps practicing her bid-calling, crowd control skills and knowledge of antiques, and learns to cope with her annoying and nearly invisible neighbors at home. Her twin's chats with dead people help. So does the companionship of two quirky but virile new love interests and the dumpster diving kitten who becomes her sidekick. But Jasper's nerves are fraying fast. A second suspicious death makes matters worse. In the end, Jasper brings justice to Forest Grove along with the fresh face and kindly attitude of a new woman auctioneer. Soon she will be ready for her next adventure.Get in and go, Jasper Biggs!
About the Author: Like her fictional pal Jasper Biggs, author Sherry Blakeley knows auctions. She has worked as an auctioneer and can still do the chant at the drop of a gavel. Sherry grew up in the Midwest, moved to Colorado and returned to the central U.S. to attend Beloit College where she got her B.A. in English composition and literature - after dropping her third major, government. Too much even for an airy Aquarian! She has published lots of articles about auctions and antiques and still loves writing feature stories on everything and everybody from sky diving, haunted houses, and the political race between Obama-Biden and Romney-Ryan, to a gang of octogenarians at a local assisted living center. Her deceased Burmese cat Pandora R. Malone still serves as writer's muse, and Pandy's big sis Tippy Thomson the Maine Coon gets Sherry outside for some serious porch dwelling every day. The old house where she resides is a perfect haven for writers and friendly spirits. So is Beloit Public Library where Sherry hangs several days a week. Her sister Karen, out West in Loveland, Colorado, gives her insider tips on all things psychic. Do you believe they both married men named Dave? That's twins for you! Sherry lives in close proximity to her husband, the artist David Lundahl, with whom she has collaborated on a collection of her poems inspired by his photographs. In her down time, she loves old flicks such as Hepburn and Tracy's Pat & Mike and other authors' cozy mysteries. Through her own writing, she pays homage to heroes such as Agatha Christie, Erle Stanley Gardener and M. C. Beaton. Sherry's going back out to the porch now to work on the second book in the Auction House Mystery Series.
