El presente librito es fruto de un largo trabajo de búsqueda, investigación, compilación y paciente reescritura. Puede ser su lector cualquiera que se interese por las leyendas cubanas que aquí se cuentan. Pero está especialmente redactado para ti, niño o joven lector cubano que vives dentro o fuera de Cuba (...) Con esta compilación, los tímidos habitantes de la antigua floresta mitológica antillana vuelven a hacer travesuras: jicoteas, tataguas, manjuaríes y auras tiñosas se entremezclan con vengativos jigües y huipias nocturnales, ectoplasmas errantes y veneradas arboladas que aún despiertan ciertos atávicos temores entre los contemporáneos que pernoctan en montes, cuevas o abrigos rocosos de ciertas comarcas isleñas.
