About the Book

74 000 years ago, in the middle of the previous ice age, the biggest Super Volcano in at least 25 000 000 years exploded in what is now Sumatra. It drastically changed the environment and obscured the sun for up to 1 000 years.
Things were very different from the earth as we know it today. What is now the Black sea was still a huge through in the earth, many kilometres deep (It only filled up about 8 000 years ago when the Mediterranean broke through the Bosporus at the end of the ice age).

Henry V Loren creates a well-researched, action-packed thriller set at that, the time of the Toba Super Volcano eruption.
The destruction forced Questa, Anja, and Orrox to each fight for survival, enduring and suffering many adventures while fighting off the murderous intent of other hominid species.
Neanderthal Giants abduct Questa from the Dynasty Valley. Death becomes her only hope to escape from the brutality of her captors. For her the remote eruption gives hope. A momentary chance to escape exists. Can Questa exploit the opportunity?
Orrox, the Dynastic successor, realizes that the upheavals, which injure a local Clan, cause widespread death, destruction and famine. He hurries to the Dynasty valley to arrange support and to forestall lethal competition between hominid species, who all desperately fight for the few remaining resources.
The eruption triggered earthquakes, which destroy Anja's Clan Habitat, killing everyone. She has to escape from the devastated valley and find other survivors or perish, while fighting off predators.
Only a secret technology advanced Clan is relatively safe. Until the huge hominids attack them too.
Until the eruption destroyed everything, the Clans lived in the fertile valleys on the sunward slopes of the Great Mountain Range. Despite the ice age, which had already endured for 50 000 years, the valleys allowed the Clans to live on the abundant yield of fruit, nuts, roots and starchy tubers. They could hunt a profusion of small game for meat.
The novel can be classified as pre-history with Science fiction overtones. The latter is normally based in the future and often take place in space, while many novels and romances can, at most, depict extraordinary occurrences within historic or current times. This novel proves that earth's history is stranger than that!
Henry V Loren shows that many phenomena often ascribed to alien presences on earth, is better explained by accepting that our forebears were more intelligent and developed than normally supposed. All the assumptions made in the series of books are scientifically based and explained in the list of assumptions at the back of the book.

Archaeologists speculate that only "a few breeding pairs" of the different homo species that lived at the time, might have survived the Toba Catastrophes. The disaster was much more recent and of much greater magnitude than the Yellowstone eruption, which created the caldera containing the well-known park.
We know of Sapiens (that's us) and many other hominids who existed before the Toba Super Volcano erupted. All had pursued a hunter-gatherer type lifestyle that slowly became more sophisticated as the brains of their different forebears developed and grew bigger over a million years. Then, over a few hundred thousand years, intelligence on par or better than that of the humans of today, accompanied the large brains of a few of the Homo species, while others remained more primitive.
