And even though they can afford expensive home security systems, they still have to contend with added traffic to their neighborhood which makes them susceptible to robberies and break-ins. But celebrity break-ins do not just happen randomly. They are usually well-planned and the burglars always choose their targets carefully based on worth and ease of access to their homes. They may be able to estimate the worth of their potential victims from what they see in magazines: the wristwatches, the designer clothing, the Bentleys, the Porsches or the Maseratis that line the driveways provide an indication of how wealthy celebrities as well tip off the criminals as to which homes they should rob. In this list, all the celebrities are victims of home burglaries with property theft between $5000 and $2 million. Many of the celebrities have either told the police or the courts that they are not really worried about the monetary value of the stolen items, but what they are worried about is the effect of the robberies on their peace of mind. Many burglars have been caught on video footage but this hasn't stopped a lot of other people from trying their luck. A lot of times, when the criminals are apprehended, the stolen property is not returned to the victims. In the discussion of celebrity break-ins, one group of criminals gained notoriety and operated between 2008 and 2009. They were known as The Bling Ring and also went by other names such as Hollywood Hills Burglar Ranch. The Bling Ring is a group of eight teenagers and a young adult based in and around Calabasas, California. They broke into the homes of Hollywood celebrities and carted away belongings and cash up to 3 million dollars between a period October 2008 and August 2009. Over 2 million dollar worth of the stolen properties belonged to Paris Hilton, whose house was attacked several times even though many homes as much as fifty were reported to be target for potential burglary.
