Leave behind your cares to step into the vividly imagined and perfectly realized world author Melissa Hintz expertly captures in her collection of poetic meditations and flash fiction.
Organized into four sections-On Love, On Loss, On Writing, and On Life-this intriguing compilation offers readers a chance to look at existence from different and thought-provoking vantage points-and to explore the intricacies of their own hearts, as well.
Hintz sets her work in varied and surprising contexts in order to touch upon universal themes and experiences. Using evocative and nuanced language, rich imagery, and plenty of humor, she manages to shine a light on the oft-neglected aspects of life.
Whether you are a lifelong poetry lover or simply want a good book to sink your teeth into, On Chagrin Boulevard will delight you with its gifted use of language and engaging, insightful stories about the way we move through the world-doing our best to make sense of it all.
About the Author: Melissa Hintz escaped from corporate America in 2006 to become a writer, her left-brain exhausted from years as a number-crunching actuary and her right brain impatient to let her imagination run wild again.
Whether for an 80,000-word novel or an eight line poem, Hintz loves to create complex characters and develop unexpected plot twists. She embraces the challenge that poetry presents of condensing a story, idea, or emotion into just a few words. Both prose and poetry indulge her fascination with the nuances of sounds, the magic of words, and the joy of unexpected discovery.
All three of her novels have been semi-finalists in the William Faulkner-William Wisdom Creative Writing Competition, the third as a work-in-progress. She is currently editing that third novel.
Hintz lives in Shaker Heights, Ohio, with her husband, Jim, and a very opinionated cat named Gateway.
