When it reaches maturation, that caterpillar enters the pupa stage, where it encases itself in its own protective shell as it develops and transforms, seemingly into a new creature. When it emerges from the chrysalis, the creature is no longer a caterpillar, but is now a dazzling, beaming butterfly. That butterfly is purposed to fly, pollinate flowers, and produce more butterflies. While a butterfly goes through metamorphosis and seemingly becomes a "new creature," let it be known that even while the caterpillar was in egg form, it was always destined to be a butterfly.
