About the Book

A novel about jealousy, attraction, falling in love...and running away Esmerelda Fox is the kind of girl other women love to hate - flightly, flirty and...foreign. The women of Borgocasino, a little town in the Italian Alps, are not too pleased that she's moved there in search of men - their men. But, at thirty-four, Esmerelda's been around the block once too many in her native Dublin, where she's dated more duds than studs...and she believes the Italians have "l'amore" down to a fine art. It's an abstract art, however, and Esmerelda's tangled love-life includes a gorgeous TV soap star, a Sicilian sculptor with Roman hands and an urbane millionaire who sees love as a game. Before she can say "buonasera", her life has turned into the title sequence of the Benny Hill show, as she is chased by a procession of Latin Lovers and their jealous wives - with interference from her UFO-spotting, Elvis-impersonating family back in Dublin. Everyone is hunting Fox. And she still has to deal with the local "retro" feminist and a female boss who is more poisonous than Lucrezia Borgia. In a country that created opera, fashion and the Mafia, just being a foreigner is weird, but being a foreign woman is positively dangerous....
About the Author: As a roving reporter for mostly tabloid papers, specialising in wacky adventures and strange goings on in rural Ireland, Geraldine Comiskey has spent 30-odd years living out of a suitcase and wearing wellies with everything. Some of her most memorable assignments have included "dunker training" in a submerged helicopter with the Royal Marines, boarding a trawler with the Irish Navy in a Force Nine gale, wingwalking over Galway Bay, and getting set on fire by stuntmen in the Wicklow Mountains. She has also worked as a serious reporter for the broadsheet press and in a wide range of "real jobs". She is based in Dublin and has also lived elsewhere, including a small Italian town - which is nothing like the place in this novel. She is happily single and child-free, and plans to adopt a dog if she ever settles down. Her hobbies include visiting haunted locations and buying silly things in discount stores.
