Einleitung Die Volksrepublik China (im Folgenden China genannt) gilt als einer der strategisch wichtigsten Märkte der Welt. Kein anderer Staat konnte in den letzten 30 Jahren ein derart schnelles und starkes Wirtschaftswachstum verzeichnen. Seit der Öffnung 1979 wurde jährlich ein durchschnittliches Wachstum von 10% erzielt. Der Ausblick auf niedrige Löhne und Produktionskosten, Investitionsanreize seitens der Regierung, ein enormes Arbeitskräftepotenzial, vereinfachten Zugang zu Materialien wie bspw. Metalle der Seltenen Erden und die Aussicht auf einen riesigen Absatzmarkt haben dazu geführt, dass der Gang nach China als ein absolutes "Muss" gilt. Doch ist dies noch zutreffend? "China büßt Rolle als Produktionsstandort Nummer eins ein" (business-wissen 2008), "Wer löst China als Billiglohnland ab?" (Ramasamy 2010). Immer häufiger sind solche Schlagzeilen zu lesen. Galt China in den letzten Jahren ungeschlagen als der Produktionsstandort schlechthin, muss sich im Zuge steigender Kosten gefragt werden, ob es seinen Status weiterhin aufrecht erhalten kann, oder ob langfristig mit einer Verlagerung der Aktivitäten auf andere asiatische Staaten wie bspw. Vietnam oder Kambodscha zu rechnen ist. Der Anstieg der Lohn- und Materialkosten, der Wegfall von (u.a. steuerlichen) Bevorzugungen ausländischer Unternehmen im Zuge des Beitritts zur Welthandelsorganisation (WTO), die teilweise sehr starke ausländische Konkurrenz und der Diebstahl geistigen Eigentums in Kombination mit teilweise immer noch fehlender Rechtssicherheit lassen Zweifel aufkommen. Das Ziel dieser Arbeit ist es, herauszustellen, ob China als Beschaffungsmarkt und Produktionsstandort weiterhin für ausländische Unternehmen interessant bleibt.
