About the Book

Once upon a time in Bigwig City, near the Bigwig Arms, behind Bigwig Towers and a half mile down Bigwig Boulevard from Bigwig Plaza, home of the Bigwig Times and WBIG-TV, Christopher Crane and the rest of the Bigwig Construction Crew had just finished building the Bigwig Complex. Sparkly and beautiful and ready for its ribbon-cutting, Mayor Bigwig suddenly decided to scrap the deal. The buildings were demolished, the equipment was removed from the site, yet in the midst of the mayhem, Christopher Crane got left behind. Many years went by, when one day Oscar and his brother, Little Theo, were in the park playing on Jungle Jim, their favorite climbing toy. It was there that they heard a voice crying from the ground, Help me! Fearing one of their friends was trapped, they started digging, when suddenly two big eyes popped out from the dirt... and... and... well, you'll just have to read the story to find out what happens! Written and illustrated in 2010 by Rosalinde Block, CHRISTOPHER CRANE ironically foretold the state of today's political climate. This is a story about altruism--the one thing we can all give that doesn't cost a dime or a zillion dollars!
About the Author: Rosalinde Block has been writing and illustrating children's books for 30 years. Her stories, starring a vibrant cast of characters, evoke humor, altruism, self-awareness, vulnerability and earnestness-- parables for the young. In addition to CHRISTOPHER CRANE, other books by Rosalinde include JULIA MORPHS, (Youthlight Inc.), the story of a ballet-loving elephant struggling with body issues. JULIA MORPHS won a Mom's Choice Award as well as endorsements from ABT star Misty Copeland and the International Baccalaureate. Born and raised in St. Louis, Rosalinde came to New York after graduating from Sarah Lawrence College. Over the years, she has enjoyed multiple careers as a musician/artist/writer. Her work in the performing arts has taken her across the country. Over the past several years she has toured her one-woman show, Drama of the Gifted Grownup, and is presently creating it as a film/documentary/memoir for the small screen.
