About the Book

Virginia (Ginger) Forrester, a young woman working toward an advanced degree in Southwestern paleoanthropology, makes an unexpected and exciting fossil hominid discovery which is termed "impossible" by her professor because he, and especially his assistant fear it will endanger a proposed power company dam project. The woman's father, Bill, who owns the property where the discovery was made and hopes to benefit by the sale of land to be flooded by the dam, suddenly seems to face a choice between dam and daughter. He takes time out to find romance, and later faces danger. The story revolves around a well-functioning, loving and rather traditional Southwestern family, probably dominated by the eldest female member, Grandma Maria, who is involved directly, indirectly or by inference in nearly everything the family does. Faced with choices, Bill, often advised and sometimes aided by old Ruben, Maria's husband, leads the effort to solve the problems triggered by Ginger's discovery. About the Author: J.M. DosLobos might suggest that the most exciting things in life are people. He met and got to know quite a few in school, many more during his somewhat protracted military service, but many, many more during the time he worked in radio and especially during his newspaper career. He generally likes people and likes to write about people rather about than things. He has driven trucks for money and racing cars for fun. He likes to fish for fun with artificial flies, but did spend a season fishing commercially for sharks. He became a photographer when as young teen he inherited an old bellows camera and learned how to process film and prints. He did some portraits while in high school. Over the years he has worked with many newspapers in varying capacities: Staff writer, photographer, columnist, editor. He would say he has been a nearly lifelong reader and writer. When he began to write novels seriously he decided he wanted them to be suitable for most readers, but wanted to make them especially attractive to older readers.
