About the Book

English summary: This anthology of original texts takes readers on a voyage with Clio, the muse of History, to ancient Greece and Rome. These French translations of the original Greek and Roman texts provide excellent material for understanding the role and place of History in the ancient world, as literature, poetry, and memory. Readers will meet the great historians, experience epic battles, and more importantly understand the often conflictual relationship between historians and power.
