Masterarbeit aus dem Jahr 2013 im Fachbereich Energiewissenschaften, Note: 1,3, Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster, Veranstaltung: Energy Economics, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Der Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) publizierte im diesjährigen Sachbestandsbericht über den Klimawandel und die dazugehörigen Einflussfaktoren die Ergebnisse seiner fünften Analyse. Sie verweisen auf unterschiedliche Veränderungen der Atmosphäre, die mit hoher Gewissheit durch anthropogene Bestimmungsfaktoren verursacht werden. Seit dem 20. Jahrhundert verschlechtert sich bis zum heutigen Zeitpunkt die Klimasituation. Diese fortschreitende Wandlung führt in der Folge zu einer Erhöhung der Meeresspiegel, Erwärmung der Weltmeere und weiteren divergenten Klimaereignissen. Ausschlaggebend für die Klimaänderung ist der Ausstoß von Treibhausgasen (THG). Vor allem das THG Kohlendioxid (CO2) sorgt in der Atmosphäre für ausgeprägte Schäden. Die CO2-Konzentration erreichte in der Umgebungsluft im Jahre 2013 Höchstwerte und befindet sich in einer Langzeitbetrachtung der letzten 800.000 Jahre auf einem Höhepunkt. Eine unveränderte Schadstoffemission von CO2 würde bis zum Jahr 2050 zu einer Konzentration führen, die eine Überschreitung der weltweiten Temperatur im arithmetischen Mittel von 2 Grad nach sich zieht. Die weltweite Temperaturerhöhung als Implikation hoher Emissionen wird als Klimaintensität bezeichnet und beschreibt eine nachhaltige Erwärmung bei einer Verdopplung der CO2-Emissionen in der Atmosphäre. Seit Mitte des 18. Jahrhunderts führte der anthropogene Einsatz fossiler Energieträger zu einer Kohlenstoff-Emission von 545 Gigatonnen. 45 % dieser Schadstoffmenge wirken sich negativ auf die Atmosphäre aus. Der restlichen Anteile wurden in der Natur von Meeren und Wäldern absorbiert.
