About the Book

If ever there was a book of poetry you need to have, here it is! Coloured Views: Poetry Unraveled. It contains multiple award-winning poems written by a champion of creative writing and public speaking. Yes, the author was once designated the Special Writer for the year by the Jamaica Cultural Development Commission, at the awards ceremony for the national Creative Writing competition where he went on to cop several prizes for his work. Since then, he has gone on consistently capturing awards for creative writing on a national level to include multiple gold medals. Coexisting in these poems are historical events, current situations, social commentary all mixed with a bit of satire. Each poem pulls you along for a fascinating ride. The book goes easy on the eyes and helps the reader to see through various lenses with each title, giving a variety of perspectives as embodied in the title Coloured Views. Apart from that there is a treasure trove of information to be found inside a detailed glossary at the back, to assist those who are unfamiliar with some of the alternative language used. The fond Jamaican language is used in some poems to deliver a more touching and vivid image. Predominant views expressed by the writer spans a wide array of topics. Topics such as Mother Its Me Again can appeal to our better senses, The System, "Di System", highlights the injustices faced by many inner cities youths, Tax Again is an anthem sung by all humans across the globe, Wild Wild West shows what the illegal guns and lapse of proper law enforcement leads to, I Do tell of love, while I Can't Breathe an ode to George Floyd, succinctly addresses the plight of oppressed people.
