About the Book

Das Schlagwort "Social Media" hat in den letzten Jahren seit der Gründung von Facebook im Jahre 2004 zunehmend an Relevanz zugenommen: Dies mag zum einen an einer stetig und stark wachsenden Nutzerschaft liegen, zum anderen aber auch den weitreichenden Fragen, die dadurch entstehen. So ist die Thematik disziplinenübergreifend zum Gegenstand von sozial- und verhaltenswissenschaftlichen Studien geworden. Diese Studien untersuchen zum Beispiel, welche Motivationen hinter der Nutzung entsprechender Angebote stecken können oder welche Effekte durch einen entsprechenden Konsum möglich werden. Andere Studien beschäftigen sich mit Aspekten von sozialen und zwischenmenschlichen Interaktionen sowie deren Einordnung im Kontext der neuen Medien- und Technologieform. Denn neben dem Austausch von Texten, Fotos, Grafiken und Videos gibt es auf vielen Plattformen zahlreiche weitere Interaktionsformen wie "Gefällt mir"-Angaben, "Daumen hoch"-Bewertungen oder Möglichkeiten der Kommentierung, die zusammengenommen in ihrer Bandbreite die Motivation und das Verhalten der Nutzer ausmachen oder beeinflussen können. Gerade weil im Bereich von sozialen Medien der Wandel schnell und die Innovationsdichte hoch ist, ist eine Forschung zu aktuellen und plattformspezifischen Trends hochaktuell und relevant. Mit der vorliegenden Arbeit möchte der Autor einen Beitrag dazu leisten und sich dabei auf die Aspekte des Verhaltens und die Plattform Jodel fokussieren.
About the Author: John Caffier studierte Medienwissenschaft und Politikwissenschaft an der Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen und studiert momentan Psychologie an der Universität Konstanz. Außerdem ist er Digital-Experte, Co-Gründer des Startup Tübingen-Netzwerkes und Geschäftsführer der jocapps GmbH. Seine Interessen liegen im Bereich Digitales, Entrepreneurship und Gründerkultur sowie kognitiven Motivations- und Verhaltensprozessen.
