La doctora Hak Ja Han Moon nació el 10 de febrero de 1943 en Anju, provincia de Pyeongyang del Sur, en lo que hoy es Corea del Norte. A la edad de seis años huyó a Corea del Sur con su madre y su abuela, arriesgando sus vidas para cruzar la frontera en plena noche. Desde muy joven, la doctora Hak Ja Han Moon desarrolló una profunda relación con Dios en un estrecho vínculo padre-hija. Cuando se casó con el fallecido Sun Myung Moon en 1960 su deseo mutuo de ver un verdadero mundo de paz la llevó a unirse a él en un camino pionero como la Madre de la Paz. Los Padres de la Paz, Sun Myung Moon y Hak Ja Han, presentaron modelos para unir conflictos, divisiones y resentimientos en los campos de la educación, la política, las artes, las ciencias, los medios y los derechos humanos, todos unidos bajo la bandera del movimiento de Unificación.
Desde la primera bendición de matrimonio oficiada por Sun Myung Moon y Hak Ja Han, en 1960, esta tradición se ha expandido para convertirse en una afirmación interreligiosa de la importancia universal del matrimonio y la familia. La bendición matrimonial trasciende los límites y las afiliaciones religiosas y crea una experiencia compartida como una familia centrada en Dios.
