About the Book

Follow the adventures of a campground worker as she chronicles the delights and disasters of working with the public away from all the conveniences of modern life: electricity, running water, internet access, and phone service. Join her on the top of a mountain, as far from civilization as she's ever lived, in this collection of creative non-fiction essays.
About the Author: Blaize Sun is the author of Confessions of a Work Camper: Tales from the Woods, a collection of personal essays about her time working in a remote location in a National Forest. Her stories, rants and observations can be found on her blog www.rubbertrampartist.com. Because Blaize lives in her van, she is a rubber tramp. She doesn't have a sticks and bricks home waiting for her anywhere and gets her "house time" by visiting friends and house sitting. Blaize enjoys playing with color. She makes collages and hemp jewelry and cheerful winter hats. She takes photographs and writes poetry. Participating in these activities makes her an artist. Blaize likes to see places she's never seen before and to visit the places she loves again and again. In the summer she wants to be in the mountains where temperatures are cooler. In the winter she enjoys the warm, wide open spaces of the American Southwest. She really doesn't care if she never travels east of New Mexico again. Although Blaize likes to spread joy and to make people laugh, her wit can be sharp. She tries to stay positives in all situations, to find the goodness in all people, but often feels compelled to point out nonsense when she encounters it. Blaize likes to have fun, to dance, to eat yummy food, to sit by a fire and share stories. When talking with people, she wants to know what they hold dear and consider important. Her goal is to save enough money from her work during the camping season so she doesn't have to work for money much during the winter and spring. Working as little as possible for money gives Blaize more time to write and explore and create art.
