About the Book

American's love conspiracy theories and this series does not disappoint. Conspiracy: The Laura and Charlie Franchise is a drama in the spirit of 'The Pelican Brief" or "All the President's Men." The franchise is built around Charlie, (George Clooney) a liberal, retired, New York Times investigative reporter and his trophy wife Laura, a conservative commentator. Their political differences create their own sparks. Through leaks, whistleblowing and good investigative reporting, Charlie discovers amazing conspiracies that he and Laura must unravel and stop before it is too late. These conspiracies cover "Too big to fail" financial institutions, political action committees, the food industry, and the prison industrial complex. Methuselah's Dilemma - Charlie uncovers the illegal and immoral actions the government is taking to prevent the poor from living longer because the longer the poor live, the worse the nation's budget deficit. Addicted to Death - A whistle blower tells Charlie that his company is knowingly selling chemicals to farmers and food processors they know will make people sick as it drives demand for their pharmaceutical products The person who devised this plan is now his party's nomination for president of the United States and doesn't want his past exposed as it will affect his chance of becoming president. Charlie's involvement in trying to discover and expose this plot puts his and Laura's life in danger. Wall Street Flatline - Charlie discovers three government officials instruct their blind trust to "short" the market once they take office. They are planning to "tank" the economy and see this as a victimless crime as 50% of American's don't own stock or bonds and the US Government will bail out the financial institutions that suffer losses. In the end, the three of them will walk away with hundreds of millions of dollars. Once Charlie discovers the plot, he faces the challenges of trying to expose the impending danger before it is too late, without facilitating a financial meltdown, and staying alive as there are now hundreds of millions ($$$) of reasons to kill him. Special Interest - In a successful conspiracy to get the Supreme Court case of Citizen's United overturned, PACs and special interest groups were able to force a Supreme Court judge who supported Citizen's United to resign. The PACS and lobbyists come together to form their own government and in turn become a shadow government. Charlie discovers the shadow government is about to use their power to launch a preemptive missile strike against another country that must be stopped before it starts WWIII. Addicted to Death - Charlie discovers that a chemical company has made eating as dangerous as smoking by selling chemicals to farmers and food processors that they know make people sick, because it drives sales for the company's pharmaceutical division. Charlie discovers the chemical additives are having an impact on the genetic level such that chronic diseases are being passed down from one generation to the next. The person who devised this plan is now his party's nomination for president and doesn't want his past exposed as it will affect his chance of becoming president. Charlie's involvement puts his and Laura's life in danger.
