Controlling im Unternehmen ist eine Fuhrungsaufgabe, die sich nicht auf eine bestimmte hierarchische Ebene beschrankt. Viele Unternehmen haben schon fruhzeitig erkannt, daBdie Controlling-Funktion auch in den Teilbereichen desUnternehmens - im Ver- trieb, in der Fertigung, in der Entwicklung und in der Verwaltung - entscheidende Impulse zur Verbesserung der wirtschaftlichen Leistungserstellung und Leistungser- bringung geben kann. Controlling ist also nicht nur ein Steuerungsinstrument fur das ganze Unterneh- men, es ist auch ein Steuerungsinstrument fur die Teilbereiche. So ergibt sich folge- richtig fur eine Auseinandersetzung mit der Funktion des Controlling und mit der Aufgabenstellung des Controllers im Unternehmen zunachst die Notwendigkeit, einen allgemeinen Oberblick uber dieses Fuhrungsinstrument im Unternehmen zu schaffen. Diese allgemeine Funktionsbeschreibung ist die Zielsetzung meines Buches "Controlling heute" (Bornemann, H.: Controlling heute, 2. Auflage, Wiesbaden 1986), fur das schon nach einem Jahr die zweite Auflage erscheinen konnte. In "Con- trolling heute" wird besonders auf eine volle Realitatsbezogenheit geachtet: Sowohl die Auswertung von Stellenangeboten zur Ermittlung der Einstellung der Wirtschaft zum Controller zum gegenwartigenZeitpunkt als auch Fallstudien aus den Aufgaben- gebieten des Controllers spiegeln die Gegebenheiten im heutigen Wirtschaftsleben wider. Aufgezeigt werden die Rahmenbedingungen fur den Einsatz des Controllers, seine Aufgabenschwerpunkte und seine Stellung im Unternehmen.
