Laissez-moi vous dire ce que ce livre n'est pas. Ce n'est pas un livre sur l'apprentissage du vocabulaire, ni un livre pour apprendre des temps de verbes, ni pour mieux apprendre la grammaire. Alors qu'est-ce que c'est? C'est un livre pour vous aider à comprendre, et surtout à parler l'anglais plus couramment, à parler l'anglais familier, à parler l'anglais qu'utilisent les anglophones, et spécialement les Américains. Vous avez ici des mots et expressions-clés de la langue normale, de la langue familière, et de l'argot, qui sont utilisés chaque jour dans la conversation. Ce sont des mots qui fluidifient la langue anglaise. Chacun est traité séparément, pour vous expliquer comment les utiliser. Pour presque chaque mot ou expression-clé, vous allez trouver plusieurs exemples dans des phrases ou des mini-conversations. Ainsi, vous pouvez voir comment ils sont normalement utilisés. De cette façon, ils ne seront pas pour vous des termes vides de sens à mémoriser. Il y a des milliers d'expressions idiomatiques en anglais, mais beaucoup d'entre elles sont rarement utilisées, et utilisées seulement dans des situations très particulières. Cependant, il y a d'autres mots et expressions-clés en anglais qui sont utilisés tout le temps. Ce sont les équivalents anglais des expressions françaises comme en dépit de, au cas où, dès que, par contre, j'en ai marre, tout de même, qui sait, jamais de la vie, et alors, va savoir, et bien d'autres. Au lieu d'être limitées à des situations rares et insolites, ces expressions sont polyvalentes. Elles vous serviront dans un nombre infini de situations quotidiennes. Vous avez non seulement besoin de les reconnaître, mais vous devez aussi pouvoir les utiliser vous-même au quotidien. Elles sont le ciment qui lie les mots de vocabulaire que vous connaissez déjà. Ces mots-clés sont le sujet de ce livre. Certains d'entre eux sont vraiment de courtes expressions idiomatiques. Mais la plupart sont simplement des mots ou des expressions qui graissent l'engrenage de la conversation anglaise. J'espère que vous trouverez ce livre fascinant et instructif.
