In recent years, the use of composite materials has gained increasing attention in various industries due to their unique properties such as high strength, light weight, and corrosion resistance. Among the various types of composite materials, Metal Matrix Composites (MMCs) have emerged as a promising option for a wide range of applications. One such MMC is Aluminium 7075 reinforced with Silicon Carbide (SiC) particulates.


The aim of this study is to investigate the corrosion behavior of Aluminium 7075 SiC particulate composite material in various corrosive environments such as acidic and alkaline electrolytes. The electrochemical characterization of the material is carried out using techniques such as potentiodynamic polarization and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. Additionally, the study also focuses on the effect of anodizing and coating on the corrosion resistance of the material.


Mechanical properties such as fracture toughness, wear resistance, and tribology are also studied to understand the material's behavior under different loading conditions. Microstructure analysis using XRD, SEM, and EDS is carried out to study the material's surface morphology and roughness.


The study also investigates the effect of corrosion on the fatigue behavior of the material and the propagation of cracks in the material. The study explores the potential of corrosion inhibition and passivation layers on the surface of the material. Techniques such as electroplating and galvanic coupling are studied to enhance the corrosion resistance of the material.


In summary, this study provides an in-depth understanding of the corrosion behavior of Aluminium 7075 SiC particulate composite material and explores various techniques to improve its corrosion resistance. The results of this study can be useful in designing corrosion-resistant components for various applications.
