About the Book

THE LIFE OF GLENN O'BRIEN, an American engineer from Bos-ton, continues to unfold: Caitlin O'Neil is a young Irish woman from County Clare, living on the Burren Moors, who rescues Glenn from near-death during a raging storm and discovers he has an antique gold medallion that matches perfectly, one she possesses. Follow them as they search for the link between them through the journals of Tom Smith, the builder of Caitlin's 19th Century Burren home. Can it be more than coincidence that Glenn's great grandfather's name was Tom Smith O'Brien? The story that unfolds is based on the writings of Tom Smith as he seeks prosperity in nineteenth-century British North America and discovers the high cost of the chase. Follow his trials and tribulations in the St Maurice Foundry and Iron Works, his desperate pioneer life amongst refugees from the Scottish clearances, his drift on a timber raft to Quebec with American Empire Loyalists and his trip in a voya-geur's canoe to Fort William and back. Sail with him to Great Britain on a timber ship as he returns home and discovers the truth behind the plot that forced him to flee his family and the women he loved.
About the Author: MICHAEL SINCLAIR-SMITH was brought up in the English countryside where he developed a passion for horses. He left England in 1965 and moved to Canada, where for a year, he was a huntsman to a pack of hounds in Ontario. From there he moved to Montreal and set up his own recruiting firm, became an amateur whipper-in and later field master. In the early 80s after taking up polo in Saratoga, he re-introduced polo to Montreal at his horse farm west of the city. He has hunted throughout America, England, and Scotland and for fifteen seasons he organized and led hunting groups on trips to Ire-land. He played polo in Jamaica, The Dominican Republic, Argentina and the USA. He has five children and still lives on his horse farm in St. Polycarpe, Quebec, where he indulges his passion for writing historical novels about the history of Canada, British and United States history, sea adventures and the thrills of horse riding and foxhunting. He has been involved with horses for 50 years and writes about all things equestrian: polo, horse racing and fox hunting and the wonderful relationship between man and horse in all situations as evidenced in his first book "Don't Trample the Dog.
