About the Author: Vera L. Smith grew up in a housing project in a Midwest town and later had to learn on her own that hope has to come from within. At the age of eight, she and her siblings lost their young pregnant mother to an uncommon tragic family incident where justice was never served. Later on, Vera struggled as a single parent to raise her two sons and learned yet another powerful truth-from the depths of despair, failure, and even shame, God still has a plan for that life. Over the past 25 years, Vera has led an inspiring and growing career as a motivational speaker, poet, author and playwright. She graduated from a local community college with Highest Honors and has worked towards furthering her education in Psychology. Using her love for positive change and her writing skills, she has taught Bible classes, written and directed plays for local events in her area as well as skits to introduce Sunday morning sermons. For a brief but rewarding season, Vera hosted an inspirational radio vignette to encourage Bay Area radio listeners which proved to be a life-changing opportunity for her as well. When her sons were small, all three of them found enjoyment in performing puppeteer routines. At the same time, they frequently made hospital visits to offer encouragement and support to military patients. Also under her belt, Vera has interviewed live on Comcast television and has held book signings throughout the Bay Area. She has taught writing classes to inspire attendees to reach back into an unpleasant past to bring forth an awesome and emotionally releasing life story. She is working diligently to complete her second book which has a two-fold purpose. One goal is to help establish more people who can begin to look at life as an adventure rather than one long hard and drawn out struggle. Another goal is to strengthen those whose steps have been made feeble from life's challenges and setbacks. By sharing relevant and practical life principles, the reader is armed with tools to live life smarter. The second part of Vera's goal also includes inspiration to help those with firm steps to keep their steps strong.
