About the Book

If you like your fiction entwined with fact ("faction"), this collection of flash fiction (less than 250 words per story) is for you! Theodore Jerome Cohen is an award-winning author who has published more than ten novels-all but one of them mystery/thrillers-two short-story anthologies, and one Young Adult (YA) mystery/thriller written under the pen name Alyssa Devine. During his 45-year career he has worked as an engineer, scientist, CBS Radio Station News Service (RSNS) commentator, private investigator, and Antarctic explorer. What he's been able to do with his background is mix fiction with reality in ways even his family and friends have been unable to unravel!A few of the stories featured here, in Book 3 of the series Flash Fiction Anthologies, were award-winning entries in the weekly Flash Fiction Challenges sponsored by the Website Indies Unlimited. Others are based on or inspired by Cohen's fictionalized autobiography, Full Circle, and his Det. Louis Martelli, NYPD, series of mystery/thrillers. Most, however, are the product of his creative mind, prompted by an endless stream of provocative photographs of people, animals, buildings, and landscapes found on a variety of Internet sites. Specifically, in this volume, you'll find a tale about an injured bomb-tracking dog named Drak in Afghanistan, a gritty story about a standoff between a detective and a female serial killer, the humorous tale about the theft of one of the Queen of England's swans, and a story about a suspenseful conflict between the chief of a Native American tribe and a cowboy. In short (pun intended), there is something in this book for almost every genre and taste.
About the Author: Theodore Jerome Cohen is an award-winning author who has published more than ten novels, all but one of them mystery/thrillers, two short-story anthologies, and three illustrated children's books (K-3). This is his third Flash Fiction anthology. He also writes Young Adult (YA) novels under the pen name "Alyssa Devine." During the course of his 45-year career he has worked as an engineer, scientist, CBS Radio Stations News Service (RSNS) commentator, investor, private investigator, and Antarctic explorer. What he's been able to do with his background is mix fiction with reality in ways that even his family and friends have been unable to unravel! All of his novels, and most of short stories and flash fiction contributions, are based on or inspired by real events, some from his own life, some ripped from the headlines. Of his writing in Death by Wall Street, for example, Gary Sorkin of Pacific Book Review said: "Similar to the writing style of Michael Crichton and Tom Clancy, Ted Cohen adheres to short chapters laying out a mental storyboard in the reader's mind. He possesses a writing style ideal for screenplay adaptation with visuals that can make for a good movie." For more information on Dr. Cohen and his novels, short stories, and other contributions to the literature, the interested reader is invited to view the book descriptions, photographs, poetry, and videos that can be found at . Alyssa Devine is the pseudonym for an award-winning author of Young Adult (YA) mystery/thrillers and police procedurals (i.e., Theodore Jerome Cohen). "Her" books explore the paranormal, tarot card readings, reincarnation, and magical realism. In them, readers will discover contemporaneously realistic stories about teenagers in setting similar to those found in their own homes, schools, and towns.
