About the Book

The ongoing theme of this book is to work your strengths and crush your leadership paradigm. Breaking your old paradigm allows the "real you" to emerge and your personal productivity to improve. Once you know yourself, you will be positioned to accomplish much more with your life. The goal is to refocus your energy so you can exploit your talents and strengths. The only human being you need to fully understand is yourself! Once you have an excellent picture of yourself, seeing the value in others becomes less challenging. Learning about the "real you" often requires a lifetime. The goal of this book is to demonstrate how you can speed up the process. Once we are clear about our own talents and strengths, we can begin to appreciate the differences in others. Learning to use our own talent frees us to outsource tasks to people with complementary strengths. Business processes can also be tailored to better serve the CEO. This book was written specifically for CEOs and other top executives. It is also an excellent resource for anyone aspiring to hold a top leadership position. The text alone serves as a coaching tool, but an underlying understanding is that a CEO who seriously wants to maximize personal and corporate potential needs to hire an executive coach. Collaboration with a coach provides a CEO with a forum for addressing challenging questions. In the coaching relationship, the first step is for the coach to help the CEO discover and fully employ his or her strengths. When this process is successful, it provides the foundation for a positive shift in performance. The goal is to help the CEO achieve a personal and professional "paradigm shift."
About the Author: Dr. Phil Millage has a lifetime of consulting and coaching experience working with seasoned and emerging leaders in more than a hundred organizations. This multiple-industry experience has allowed Dr. Millage to witness amazing breakthroughs in one industry and subsequently to apply those innovations in a new industry. Breaking the prevailing paradigm is always the goal. Phil's expertise is most valued where the impact is potentially the greatest-with CEOs, senior managers, and board members. He has witnessed firsthand that as CEOs grow and develop their organizations naturally follow suit. Dr. Millage spent the formative part of his career in sales and marketing, followed by professional speaking and consulting, then on to the development of his companies, and finally to coaching CEOs. This synthesis of experience and learning provided Dr. Millage a uniquely inspiring perspective. The most common comments from CEOs note Dr. Millage's ability to recognize talent in others and his strong desire to help develop it. He is known first and foremost as an advocate and developer of CEOs and secondly as an idea- oriented, strategic thinker/paradigm breaker. Dr. Millage has been privileged to teach at four excellent universities, across several business disciplines, and to participate in student/faculty research at Oxford, Cambridge, and Harvard.
