As I sit and begin to write these lines
I'm reminded of a much earlier time
I must have been 8 when I first began
To create prose with a pen in my hand
Although most times it was done for fun
Who'd have guessed one day a writer I'd become
So I've laid myself bare, all the triumphs and trials
The trauma, the hurt, the frowns, and the smiles
Let these words be a beacon and offer insight
When you're alone in the darkness and looking for light
I'm certainly grateful that you took the time
To share my experiences I've put into rhyme
