About the Book

Dov Ber Borochov, (Poltava, Ucrania, 3 de julio de 1881 - Kiev, Ucrania, 17 de diciembre de 1917) fue uno de los padres del sionismo socialista, uno de los fundadores del partido Poale Zion (Trabajadores de Sion) y uno de sus líderes. Fue el iniciador de la creación de la Legión Judía, programa que llevaron a cabo Zeev Jabotinsky y Joseph Trumpeldor. El batallón que se formó incluía a soldados judíos que lucharon en el ejército británico en la Primera Guerra Mundial. También fue pionero en el estudio del yiddish. La teoría de Borochov (apodada "borochovismo" y oficialmente "Nuestra Plataforma") se basaba en la Segunda Revolución Industrial, que suprimió la pequeña industria. Esta represión, junto con el antisemitismo, hizo que los judíos emigraran de Rusia a Europa y América, principalmente a Estados Unidos y Argentina. Junto con los judíos, también emigraron otros miembros de las naciones. Como resultado, la emigración masiva general extendió la "cuestión judía" por todo el mundo. Tras las decisiones del Sexto Congreso Sionista de agosto de 1903 sobre el Plan Uganda elaborado por Theodor Herzl, Borochov publicó un artículo en marzo de 1904 para defender el sionismo original. El "Manifiesto por la Paz" fue presentado al Comité Socialista Holandés y Escandinavo en agosto de 1917, cuando Borochov viajaba de Estados Unidos a Rusia. En cuanto al segundo libro, podemos decir que Borochov llegó a ser muy influyente en el movimiento sionista porque explicaba el nacionalismo en general, y el judío en particular, en términos de la lucha de clases marxista y el materialismo dialéctico. Se consideraba marxista y expuso su filosofía en su primera gran obra publicada en 1905, "La cuestión nacional y la lucha de clases", en la que criticaba el capitalismo.
